The Spirit Horse Ranch aims to strengthen lives, foster healing, mental wellness, and resilience through evidence-based equine-assisted services.
We are a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit offering Trauma Informed Care equine-assisted services on Maui.
We provide Trauma-Informed Equine-Assisted Services (EAS) for youth, families, and individuals in crisis. Our horses help people heal from trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, and the lasting effects of natural disasters such as the 2023 Maui wildfires.
Through the gentle wisdom of our horses, we offer a path to recovery that honors your pain and nurtures your strength.
Strengthening lives to strengthen Maui’s community
Working with horses requires clear communication and self-awareness. Studies show that people working with horses experience decreased blood pressure, lower stress levels, and reduced feelings of tension, anxiety, and anger. In addition, participants gain feelings of self-esteem, empowerment, patience, and trust.
When individuals heal and regulate their nervous system, thinking clears, and relationships repair. Session by session, equine-assisted services help rewire neural pathways and support healthy gene expression (epigenetics). The result is steadier families, safer classrooms, a more resilient workforce, and sustained long-term recovery for Maui.

The Spirit Horse Ranch nurtures the spirit of at-risk youth and adolescent survivors of trauma and abuse, enabling them to find the strength to achieve a positive, productive, and beautiful future.

A program designed to strengthen families and individuals alike to help build resilience, cope with change, relief mental burdens and increase wellbeing among children and families in our community.
